Senate has passed the third and final reading of a newly proposed decree that will oblige all telecommunications companies (Telcos) in the country, to promptly disseminate early warning alerts and other important information to all their subscribers in times of calamity.

A total of 20 senators have voted Yes (while no one voted No) on the most recent hearing of House Bill No. 353, otherwise known as the "Free Mobile Disaster Alerts Act."

Senate President Franklin Drilon then has explicated that the implementation of such an act will be very essential to the public, as it will help people prepare for the approaching calamities.

"Help create an effective early warning system that will help achieve the main objectives of our national disaster preparedness strategy, which is to lessen the impact of incoming disasters, and ultimately save precious lives and valued property," says Senator Drilon in a press statement.

Along with this development is the hope for less-to-zero casualties from future calamity strikes anywhere in the country.
