Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago has finally left her post, as one of the judges in the International Criminal Court (ICC).

On her letter to the ICC president Song Sang-Hyun, Santiago said her main reason for leaving her job is due to health issue, particularly her chronic fatigue syndrome. Such condition is purportedly one main reason as to why the senator is seldom seen in Congress sessions these recent days.

"Pursuant to my commitment, I hereby confirm that the court should proceed on the basis that I am stepping down as elected judge," Sen. Santiago said.

In 2011, Miriam Santiago was nominated as one of the judges of the ICC that is based in The Netherlands.
