DSWD 7 disclosed over 41, 000 out-of-school youth in Central Visayas

The database of the Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 showed approximately 41, 000 out-of-school youth in Central Visayas, according to a government press release statement.




Using the Proxy Means Test, the agency's National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction conducted in July 2011 revealed a total of 41, 634 individuals in Central Visayas aging from 6 to 25 years are unable to complete any grade level.

The largest fraction of this number is in Cebu, at 22, 524 people. This is followed by Negros Oriental with a total of 12, 392. Bohol came in next at 6, 327 and lastly in Siquijor with 391 overall.

No word from the country's education department on this matter, so far.
