Classes in Siaton, Negros Oriental are suspended Wednesday, July 16, 2014 due to typhoon Glenda.

The Local Government Unit, headed by the Honorable Mayor Albert Ator, has declared cancellation of classes on this date, as safety precaution over the presence of typhoon Glenda in the country. The typhoon made its landfall in Luzon yesterday late afternoon.

According to the latest weather bulletin on typhoon Glenda by PAGASA as of 4:00 am of July 16, Wednesday, the eye of typhoon was located based on all available data and subic radar station within the vicinity of Nagcarlan, Laguna or 70 kilometers southeast of Metro Manila. It has maximum sustained winds of 150 kph and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

The Philippine weather bureau predicts the cyclone to move West Northwest at 26 kph.

Stormy weather is expected to prevail over the areas in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Central Luzon and the provinces of Mindoro, Camarines, Albay, Romblon, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, La Union, Benguet and Southern Aurora. Heavy rains with gusty winds will be felt across the provinces of  Ilocos Sur, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, rest of Aurora and Ticao Island. Coastal waters in these areas are also expected to be very rough.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of Luzon and Visayas. Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.

The rest of Luzon is expected to experience moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast to Northwest. Moderate to rough seas will prevail over the rest of the country.
